Getting Nostalgic..

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can strike you at the oddest times. At the strangest places. With familiar smells. Familiar sounds. You see old faces in new ones.At the end of the day, our memories are our masters. And best friends too.

The Guest House

Rumi's words really speak to me. Here is one of my favourites:

The Guest House

-------------------------------------------------

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

-- Jelaluddin Rumi,
translation by Coleman Barks

THINK BIG

By Walter D. Wintle (Adapted)

****************************************

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you won’t.
If you like to win, but don’t think you can,
It’s almost a cinch that you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world you’ll find
Success begins with a person’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.

For many a game is lost
Before even a step is run
And many a coward fails
Before his work is begun.

Think big and your deed will grow;
Think small and you will fall behind.
Think that you can and you will;
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think that you are out-classed, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself
Before you can win the prize.

Life’s battles don't always go
To the strongest or fastest man
But sooner or later the person who wins
Is the person who thinks she can.

चलो एक बार फिर से, अजनबी बन जाये हम दोनो

By Sahir Ludhianvi...

HUM-TUM

Just watching this song..........I can watch & listen this song again and again

Sason ko sason me --Hum Tum

This song is just amazing to hear. But its such a treat to watch as well..

I love how its been picturized in reversal...first she imagines them as growing old, then having a baby, n then getting proposed..

The concept behind this song is genius.

Circus--the forgotten entertainment

Watched Circus today after ages....it's really lovely to watch some beautiful live performances.
Was remembering the days when going to circus was the major source for entertainment
  Huge tents in open ground, great lights, music, and hundreds of people mesmerizingly watching the gymnastics and .other members of the circus performing their shows..........how can we forget one of the fav and prime attraction...yes the Joker.

Alas!!! Now it all just seems to be a long told story, the national heritage has now become a part of history.
Indian circus is still struggling in the midst if many challenges like financing, performance, license requirements and stricter animal regulations.
Kudos to them who are still trying to preserve this heritage. Hope this will last for our coming generation.
